Franchisee Satisfaction Survey

Most franchisors learn how their owners feel from convention hallway talk, the franchisee advisory council, and exit interviews that come too late. A structured annual survey turns that into a measurement you can watch move — and gives you the evidence to defend the investments that are working.

What it measures

Training and initial support
Whether the opening programme matched what was sold, and where new owners felt abandoned.
Ongoing operational support
Field visits, response times, and whether head office actually solves problems or forwards them.
Leadership and communication
Trust in the direction of the brand, and whether owners feel told or consulted.
Financial expectations
How unit economics compare to what the owner expected going in — the single strongest predictor of renewal.
Systems, marketing and supply
The technology, national marketing spend and supply chain, rated by the people who live with them.
Would they do it again
The summary question. It correlates with resale and closure rates more tightly than any other item.

What you get

  • A system-level report with every dimension scored
  • Unit-level breakdown, so you can see which regions or cohorts drag the average
  • Every verbatim comment, unedited and unattributed
  • Segment cuts by tenure, unit count and region
  • A short read-out call to walk your team through what the numbers say

How it runs

1Scope and question setWe start from a standard instrument so results stay comparable across brands, then add up to ten questions specific to your system.
2FieldingWe invite every franchisee directly and chase non-responders. Responses come to us, not to you — that is what makes them candid.
3AnalysisScoring, segmentation and the comment set, with the drivers that move your headline number called out.
4Read-outA call with your operations and leadership team, and the full report to keep.

Straight answers

Do the results affect our Factbook Score or ranking?

No. Never. Survey results are yours and are not an input to the Factbook Score, any leaderboard, or anything published on this site. The Score is computed only from regulatory filings under a published formula. Buying research here cannot move it up, and declining to buy cannot move it down.

Will you publish our results?

Not unless you ask us to in writing. The default is that your data is private to you. If you later want a result quoted publicly, that is a separate decision you make, and anything published is labelled as brand-supplied research.

Do our franchisees know we commissioned it?

Yes. The invitation says the survey is commissioned by your brand and run independently by Franchise Factbook, and that individual responses are never shown to head office attributed. Pretending otherwise would poison the response rate and the data with it.

How do we compare to other brands?

Honestly: category benchmarks build as the panel grows. From your first survey you get your own system measured against itself over time. Category comparison switches on once enough brands in your category have fielded the same instrument, and we will tell you plainly how many that is rather than dressing a thin sample up as an industry benchmark.
